Editorial Policy
Last Updated:
Occassional Drinker is an independent guide to liquor prices, reviews and drinking culture in India. This page explains how we work, so you can decide how much to trust what you read here.
We Are Independent
We are not a retailer, marketplace or delivery service, and we do not earn commissions on anything you buy. Our editorial content is never paid for: we do not accept money to rank a product higher or review it more favourably.
Where Our Prices Come From
Bottle pages show indicative prices in Indian rupees (₹) for each pack size we list. Alcohol is regulated by individual states, so the same bottle can cost different amounts in different states and cities, and prices change when a state revises its excise duty or maximum retail prices. Alcohol for human consumption also sits outside GST, which is one reason prices do not match across the country.
Treat our prices as a guide, not a quote. The MRP printed on the label and the price at your local shop are what count. We do not show stock, offers or availability, and we do not sell the bottles we list.
How We Write Reviews and Guides
- Reviews and guides are written by the Occassional Drinker editorial team.
- We state the basics of every bottle plainly: category, strength (ABV), pack sizes and the price we have listed.
- We explain jargon instead of hiding behind it. Our liquor glossary covers the terms you will meet most often.
- We never celebrate drinking for its own sake. Content is there to help you choose better, not drink more.
Corrections and Updates
If you spot a mistake, such as a price that no longer matches, a wrong strength or a factual error in an article, email info@occassionaldrinker.com with the page link. We review each report and update the page when we can confirm the change.
Responsible Drinking
Everything we publish is for adults of legal drinking age. Read our responsible drinking guide, the liquor glossary or get in touch.
