Sazerac Enters Tennessee Whiskey Market with AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey Launch
Sazerac enters the Tennessee whiskey category with AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey, a new 95-proof expression crafted through a unique dual-distillation process and launching in June 2026.

Sazerac has officially entered the Tennessee whiskey category with the launch of AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey, the first Tennessee whiskey release from the company. Crafted by AJ Bond Distillery, the new 95-proof expression is set to launch across Tennessee in June 2026 with a suggested retail price of $39.99 for a 750ml bottle.
Sazerac Makes Its Tennessee Whiskey Debut
The launch marks a significant milestone for Sazerac as it expands its whiskey portfolio into the Tennessee whiskey segment for the first time. AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey has been developed to showcase a balance of innovation, craftsmanship, and local Tennessee heritage.
Inspired by the Partnership of Two Master Distillers
The whiskey was created by master distillers Allisa Henley and the late John Lunn. The brand name, AJ Bond, reflects the strong bond and collaboration between the two distillers, who began working on the project in 2016.
According to Henley, the goal was to raise expectations for what Tennessee whiskey can offer by combining traditional methods with modern distilling techniques.
Unique Dual-Distillation Process
One of the standout features of AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey is its dual-distillation approach. The spirit is produced using both pot stills and column stills, creating two distinct whiskey components.
Each distillate is charcoal mellowed separately using Tennessee's traditional process before being aged independently. After maturation, the two whiskeys are blended together to create the final expression.
Henley noted that this method allows the whiskey to deliver a unique flavor profile while setting a new standard for the category.
Locally Sourced Tennessee Ingredients
AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey highlights local sourcing throughout its production process. The whiskey is charcoal mellowed using sugar maple charcoal produced on-site by the distillery team.
The corn used in production comes from Batey Farms, a family-owned farm located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with a history spanning more than 200 years. The whiskey is also aged in barrels made from Tennessee oak, further reinforcing its local roots.
Flavor Profile and Tasting Notes
According to official tasting notes, the whiskey opens with inviting aromas of wedding cake and caramel corn, supported by layers of butterscotch and subtle redwood notes.
On the palate, drinkers can expect flavors of baked apple, charred fruit, marzipan, powdered cinnamon, and brandied cherry. Additional hints of cream soda and baking chocolate add further depth and complexity.
The finish is long and memorable, featuring savory peppercorn notes balanced by lingering chestnut honey sweetness.
Price and Availability
AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey will be available across Tennessee starting in June 2026. The 95-proof whiskey will carry a suggested retail price of $39.99 for a 750ml bottle.
A New Chapter for Tennessee Whiskey
With the introduction of AJ Bond Tennessee Whiskey, Sazerac has officially entered one of America's most respected whiskey categories. By combining dual-distillation techniques, locally sourced ingredients, and traditional Tennessee whiskey craftsmanship, the company aims to offer consumers a distinctive new expression that honors heritage while embracing innovation.
