Rosebank is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky with one of the most storied - and complicated - histories in Scottish distilling. For decades it was considered the definitive expression of the Lowland style: light, floral, triple-distilled, and possessing an elegance that earned it a devoted following. The distillery was closed in 1993, leaving only aged stock in circulation.

Then, in 2017, Ian Macleod Distillers acquired the brand and site, and by 2023 Rosebank was distilling again. The new releases sit alongside a series of rare legacy bottlings from pre-closure stock, making this one of the most talked-about revivals in the industry.

History

Founded in 1840 in Falkirk, on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal, Rosebank became one of Scotland's most celebrated Lowland distilleries by the late 19th century. Its triple-distillation process - unusual even by Lowland standards - produced a whisky of remarkable refinement. United Distillers (later Diageo) closed the distillery in 1993 as part of an industry-wide consolidation, and the site lay dormant for decades.

Ian Macleod Distillers undertook an extensive restoration, and the first whisky from the revived stills entered casks in 2023. The legacy stock continues to be released under the Legacy Release series, while newer expressions like the Remarkable Cask series bridge old and new.

Signature Products

  1. Legacy Release Series - bottlings from pre-1993 casks, drawing on Rosebank's stored heritage
  2. Remarkable Cask Release One ⭐ ISC 2026 Double Gold - the flagship expression of the revived distillery
  3. Vintage Release Three

What Makes This Brand Unique

Rosebank is one of only a handful of Lowland distilleries practicing triple distillation, a process that strips away heavier oils and produces a whisky of exceptional delicacy. The combination of pre-closure heritage stock and freshly distilled spirit gives the brand a rare narrative arc - it is simultaneously a living piece of whisky history and a work in progress.

Flavor Philosophy

Rosebank's house style gravitates toward floral, grassy, and creamy notes - think fresh cut flowers, lemon curd, and light vanilla. There is minimal peat, very little weight, and a brightness that makes it distinctive from Highland and Island malts. It is a whisky built for contemplation rather than ceremony.
